This past month our youngest daughter got eyeglasses to wear while at school to see better when her teacher is at the front of the room. So I told her that I had to wear glasses when I was in school and we found an old photo of me and my first pair of glasses. WOW! I know that they were in style back in the day but the frames seem to be larger than my face and they were dark brown (tortoise shell) to be exact. I thought back in high school that I was at least in the latest fashion but there is no way looking back on that old photo. My duaghter got a good a laugh and it made her feel better about wearing her glasses during class.

It is not so much about the laugh but the point that eyeglasses are in fact fashion statements. I have had eyglasses for the last 25 years now and I used contacts and I also thought about surgery. I always got back to my glasses. Why? Because they make me look much more distinguished from others. I see them like a pair of pants or fashionable shoes.
