A new kind of invitation

We just received 4 different birthday invitations for our kids to attend in the next two weeks. What was interesting is that three out of the four actually stated that gifts were not needed which is kind of refreshing. They did mention that a savings bond or gift cards would be ok. I thought about this for a moment and realized that for the kid this was a much better deal because then there birthday gifts could last much longer. Plus how many kids need another set of race cars, or another doll to just sit in the bottom of the toy chest.
