Sleep and your weight

Whilst all my friends frantically run around trying to shed one or more kilos, I am equally frantically trying to gain a few. There was even a point where I read that sleep pills may be able to help gain weight because your body is burning calories while you sleep if you are not able to fully fall asleep. I never perceived my weight as a problem, until my friends started accusing me of being anorectic or bulaemic. Neither is the case. I just have a genetic make-up and a lifestyle that does not allow any food to leave a great impact on my shape.
For a short while I was ‘normal’ weight for height and it was great. I felt like I was finally taking up an amount of ‘space’ that was right for me. Alas, it did not last for long. No matter how much I eat, mainly late at night, so that I go to sleep soon after and think the food might take longer to pass through the system, no weight is gained.
