Stick to your diet
Posted on July 13, 2008 - Filed Under Blogging | Leave a Comment
Many people get on their diet kick for one reason or another and usually end up either giving up all together or latch onto the latest diet craze. Many will try diet pills without changing the way that they eat and become disappointed in the results. This is why the industry is a multi-billion dollar business since the companies know that most people will not stick to a diet and will usually switch within the first three months. The best advice that I have is to find an exercise routine that is fun and something that you will stick too and then add on additional elements to help you shed those unwanted pounds.

Heading to Hilton Head
Posted on July 1, 2008 - Filed Under advertising | Leave a Comment
Each year we have a neighbors who make an annual Hilton Head golf trip. We are actually looking to stay with a group of guys that have invested in Hilton Head rentals units that sleep 8 and offer some great locations. This year they have invited me to come along for a four days of golfing mecca. The package they have normally gotten includes golfing at least three times a day with green fees, carts, caddies, and ball. Now mind you that I usually shoot in the upper 90’s I was hesitant to take on this challenge. Besides I can stay at home and pay $30 and be just as frustrated.
What makes a salesperson
Posted on July 1, 2008 - Filed Under Blogging | Leave a Comment
A classic look that I love to wear to business meetings is a white pinpoint shirt, dark tie, cufflinks, with a pin strip suit. I have noticed that more and more people are wearing the pin strip suits so I guess I have been ahead of the curve. In my opinion around a sales career you need to dress to impress and build confidence in your customer that you are and expert at what you do. I am not saying that walking in a nice suit and not knowing your stuff will get you the sale, but you will have an added confidence that increase your chances of getting the sale. If you think being in sales means that you have to be a great talker that is not the case. If you can listen to your customer and ask questions that will help you understand what their needs are you are ahead of the curve. You can find sales related jobs at salesjobs.net along with some great insight on what you need to do to prepare for this exciting field.
Traveling to Europe
Posted on July 1, 2008 - Filed Under Blogging | 1 Comment
Italy is one place that I hope to visit before I get to old to travel. I have always loved the Italian food, culture, and history. Italy does have several islands that make up its geography. The third largest island is called the Island of Elba. It is the largest in the Tuscan Archipelago, and is only behind the islands of Sicily, and Sardinia. Remember Sicily is where the Corleone family of Godfather fame was from. The island can be accessed via boat or hydrofoil and is only five of the coast of Tuskany. You can reach the island by plane, or by booking one of many European cruises that will get you to the various islands and seaports.

Playing for fun

There were many types of swing sets when I was growing up that we used to spend hours playing with our friends on. Today most play sets that you see or purchase are made of wood and not the aluminum that we were accustomed too. The play sets today are more like an adventure that have multi levels to them that challenge the kids to use their creative minds to navigate and get their exercise. This has helped our kids to develop other coordination skills more so than they would have with just a simple swing.
Get your medical ID
Posted on June 19, 2008 - Filed Under Class of 1988 | Leave a Comment
There are more and more people that live with a disease like diabetes or allergies that wear medical id bracelets to alert others in the event of an emergency. These are key to medical professionals in the event of an illness that they will now immediately what type of care to administer and what medicines to stay away from that could cause a harmful interaction. If you have a condition for which you take chronic medication such as blood thinners, diabetes drugs, or asthma meds these little id bracelets may help save your life in the event you are unable to communicate with those around you.
Protect your travel

When making your travel plans something to consider is travel health insurance which will help protect your if you have a medical emergency or something else comes up where you need to postpone your trip. With the cost of airfare going through the roof it could be quite costly if you had to cancel your trip or delay it due to some unforeseen circumstances. There are many places that you can locate various providers but in order to compare several companies at once you can check out worldtravelcenter.com where they help you locate the best deal for your travel situation.
Are your home furnishings up to date

I was visiting my parents last summer and noticed that they still had a couch from in the den from when I was in high school and I had to ask them why they had not updated in over 20 years. And my dads response was that there was nothing wrong with the old couch, and sometimes it just makes more sense to stick with what you got. So the thought came to mind about getting home furniture pictures from your folks or maybe even some pieces that you have held onto since high school and submitting those for the slide show. It would be interesting to see what is still out there.
Outgrowing your acne
Posted on June 12, 2008 - Filed Under Class of 1988 | Leave a Comment
When we were teenagers there were only a handful of acne treatment options. Many of which contained harsh chemicals that would dry out your skin and almost make it worse. The acne always seemed to show up just in time for Prom or a special event that was being planned. Now going into our 20 year reunion one of the questions has come to mind do we really outgrow some of our issues from High School. I would also love to see someone show up with the classic mullet and kicked that whole fashion statement off again. Come on, I dare you!

Being prepared

My son just completed his first year in Cub Scouts and he really enjoyed all the activities that his den did, but really enjoyed the outdoor activities. It was mission of his to earn his various badges that would enable him to graduate to a Bobcat and one of the activities to get him there was outdoor camping. He was ready to tackle the great outdoors and build his own fire, set up his own tent, and cook by the fire side. He even wanted to go out and invest in various tactical gear such as various belts and pants that would enable him to carry some of his camping items like flint, his knife, and canteen in. I assured him that there would be plenty of time for all that as he grew up. It is great to see your kids grow up and have a passion for something.

Technology today
Posted on June 9, 2008 - Filed Under Class of 1988 | Leave a Comment
I have noticed that a flash drive I was given will hold 2 Gigs worth of data. That is quite amazing when you consider that it fits on a key chain. I remember when we were in high school that the floppy disks that we had held up to 512K worth of information and we thought that was a lot. It is amazing to think what our kids are growing up with today and I always wondered what we would have done with some of this amazing technology when we were in school. I know for sure that my history and English reports would have been a lot better and the time to complete would have been much better if we could have saved all that work on a laptop.
Should we video tape the reunion?
Posted on June 7, 2008 - Filed Under Class Reunion | Leave a Comment
As we gear up for our reunion one of the thoughts was to video tape parts of the different events so that those that could not be in attendance might have a chance to see what took place. I have invested in a digital camcorder to take some footage and upgraded the memory in my laptop since the editing and storage of the footage will take up quite a bit of space. We will then probably load the videos up on one of the video sharing sites so that we do not overload our blog. So if you are interested in helping to tape some footage for the Kamiakin Class of 1988 reunion please let me know so that we can coordinate the various files.
Loosing with Hoodia

This summer many of us will eat more than we normally would due to all the eating out, barbeques, and just snacking since most are not on a regular dinner schedule. In order to stay in check with your weight loss goals you can have the assistance of diet aids like Hoodia. There has been alot of news in the past few years about hoodia Gordonni. So what exactly is Hoodia and is it safe and effective in helping you to loose weight? It is a naturally occurring ingredient that has been used for centuries for those in Africa as a way to decrease their hunger urges as they head to out on hunting trips.
Going to the movies

When we graduated in 1988 one of the top films was Rainman. Yes, I know it is hard to think that it was that long ago and that Tom Cruise was such a hot commodity. The years have flown by and it as we approach our 20 year class reunion we will be adding more fun filled facts to get you thinking back to the 1980’s. These days you can watch movies like Rainman and other hits from the 80’s in your home since most have upgraded to the new flat panel HDTV. This has become such a popular trend that you are seeing more home theaters settings with seating and home theater sconces to really set the mood and make you feel like you are in the theaters. Who knows, we may just have some door prizes with some of those highly acclaimed films from our high school years so stay tuned.
