I don’t even know why the Supreme Court should be wasting its time with deciding something that should never have gone past the parents or the State level of court. I don’t see why video games should be considered in the same breath with Books and Art. There are some books and art that society decided should be banned, forbidden or at least not promoted. There may have been good reason, but the ACLU has convinced us that some one has the right to express themselves in that manner and that we should be forced to be exposed to it. Nothing seems to be taboo or tasteless. It is a down right shame that parents can’t, won’t or even, yes, are prevented from parenting the way they feel they should. So California (the left coast, mind you) had the temerity to pass a law banning the sale of violent videos to children. So what is the problem? It seems the voluntary labeling of “M” for mature is not working. So the State of California decided to help the parents more by forcing them to face reality and act responsibly. There is no excuse for poor parenting but neither is there an excuse for poor taste and the continual meddling with society and what it will bear. Pretend you say. Soldiers pretend until the battle begins. There is no pretending with the intensity one finds with video gamers. It is pretentious of you to believe that video games are limited to pretend. Our own military uses video games quite effectively for training purposes. You see training starts out as pretending until you need to apply that training to reality. If you don’t think video games can’t affect a person, well, I think you are just pretending. Books have affected a person’s outlook, as well as art. Its just too bad rainbows haven’t affected more people. It would be a better world
