Can you save money on digital pictures?

My parents were visiting over the Thanksgiving holiday and they asked if we have updated pictures of the kids? I told them they were all on our PC and would have to email them, or upload them to Snapfish where my parents can go view and print their pics. It seems odd that we have very little in the way of actual hard copy photos of our kids. I was trying to figure out how much money we have saved on film based on the 1000s of pics we have on our PC. The same is true for songs. My wife was asking me for the Killers CD, because there were two songs that she wanted. I told her just to go to iTunes and spend the $2 and get the songs she wanted instead of wasting the extra dollars on a whole CD.

Just these two examples show how much technology has changed the way we purchase items now and no longer are willing to spend extra when not needed. With the dominance of online sites that offer free photo uploads, and music sites where you can purchase just one song the mainstay consumer products such as film and CDs are in a decline. We all know that film has been on a free fall ever since the adoption of digital cameras. People are no longer willing to pay for a roll of 24 prints when most of the time, there only a few of those shots you actually keep.
